Because this cute young lady has inherited crazy "I don't know if I'm curly or straight hair" we decided to perm it! We choose curly!!!
And this is her hair when it was all dry before. Unfortunately this is not the top layer. This layer is found in the middle of her head or hair. When it was wet I could scrunch it and make it look cute... but, once again, it was covered by the rest of her wavy-ish hair.
A mohawk of curlers! Notice the 2 layers of curlers? She has such thick hair, she did 2 perms and had to do every other curler close to her head while the ones between were not as close to the head. I love her smile!
Maddy didn't realize this process would take quite awhile (we started just after 2:30 and got home at 5:15). Sis O had her son get a portable DVD player and Maddy watched Tangled while she waited. I also got a quick trim in the back while she had to sit with the solution on her head! Win/win situation!
Now the neutralizer! How this brought back so many memories from my youth! I started getting perms at the young age of 6-ish.
This is an up close picture of the hair straight out of the rods. Mind you it will not look this way in real life... I just thought it was cool, so I took a pic!
Right after the perm. No washing for 72 hrs (well, that's what she told us, but we cheated a bit and washed it this morning, just a few hours shy of 72)!
My little "Curly Sue" :)

Oh the perm days.... I can't even count how many I got anymore but it sure brought back lots of memories. Love the new curls : )
Adorable!
my biggest tip is to have her rinse her hair in the hose before swimming. It will help protect the hair.
