Great Movie!

Chuck just took me to see Fireproof tonight and can I tell you it was a FABULOUS movie. You should all go and see it. It was all about relationships and I think we all can use it to help us. It was a religious movie, put out by a Baptist Church if I remember right, but done in a way that didn't suggest any specific church. I thought it was well done and would recommend it to EVEYBODY!!! Go see the trailer here and see for yourself. Just wanted to share!

A good e-mail I got today...

GO MAXINE!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes I think Maxine should run for president -- she was right on with this one!

Everyone concentrates on the problems we're having in this country lately -- illegal immigration, hurricane recovery, alligators attacking people in Florida .... not me -- I concentrate on solutions for the problems -- it's a win-win situation.

* Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border.

* Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levees.

* Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.

Any other problems you would like for me to solve today? Yes!

COWS: Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

THE CONSTITUTION: They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq ... why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.

THE 10 COMMANDMENTS: The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this -- you cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians ... it creates a hostile work environment.

My b-day present I didn't post about...

OK, so I told you all I would post about my other b-day present! Sorry it's been awhile, but we went to Disneyland for the weekend (WITHOUT KIDS!!! Thanks B&K). We took off Friday morning with the Mortensen's and spent the weekend having a BLAST at the "Happiest Place on Earth"!!! We figured out how to get SOAKING wet on Splash Mountain (the order was Fawn in front, Devon, Me and then Chuck along with 2 more adults behind us) and we got wet throughout the drops within Splash Mountain... but on the last drop we had a wall of water come over us (including Chuck in the 4th seat) and we were SOAKED!!! There was about 3-4 inches of standing water in the bottom of our log. They had to send it through again w/out anybody in it so they could tip it and get the water out! It was AWESOME!!! And so then we went again (minus FAWN) and the on Sat we did it 2 more times (minus Fawn because she didn't feel like getting wet that day!) We had a great time. I get sick from fast rollercoasters and things that go up and down and upside down... so I stood in line with the gang and then stepped right on through and waited for them at the exit. It wasn't worth it to feel sick for awhile. Oh- we did a lot of Buzz Lightyear and Toy Story Mania (new ride in CA Adventures). They are both shoot your guns and get points and see who wins. I never beat Chuck, but that's OK. OH- and I got a Birthday Badge and wore it the whole time I was there. I got told Happy Birthday a lot and even got 2 free bags of tortillas at the Tortilla Factory in CA Adventures (we went on 2 different days). We had such a great time and we think it would be tons of fun to get a group of adults together and go on a bus over, be there when it opens and then get on the bus when it closes and come home! Sound like fun? I think so! Maybe in a year or 2 we will arrange something like that! OK... pictures are below showing the fun we had!

On the Sun Wheel... we went on a moving one and Chuck and Devon were trying to get us to swing higher and Fawn & I were freaking out... but instead of yelling we were LAUGHING so hard! I couldn't stop! I look funny in this picture! Oh-well, that's what happens when you are laughing uncontrollably!

All of us on the Sailing Ship Columbia. We took it at night after the fireworks. Chuck actually fell asleep and didn't wake-up until the end of the ride.

I love hospitals...

... but I don't think Devon does!

Devon is in the hospital again... they don't know for sure what is wrong, but they are trying to get him better. (I told him I'll give him a concoction with Windex and that should heal him right up!) But since I have a love for the hospital (maybe it's a good thing I'm gonna be a nurse) Chuck and I went up to visit him for a few hours tonight. When we got there we just visited, laughed and enjoyed each other's company. Fawn showed up a little bit after we got there. Then we decided to play a game of Phase 10 and... I can't remember who won... oh, yes, it was Fawn. And then we had to go, but before we left, I had to get out my camera for a few shots!

OK... so hospitals are cold... So Devon told me I could have his lovely hospital socks that don't fit his feet. When I put them on I thought "How in the world would these have fit his feet???" Thanks Devon for letting my feet be warm! And no, they aren't upside-down... they have grippers on both sides... that way if you put them on in the dark you won't get it wrong!

All in all I thought it was a fun night. I hope they will invite me back... because I love hospitals... oh and I love the Mortensen's... what a great combination!

Just Funny...

So Gramma & Gampa Melser just came by to say hi and they said they were going to check into their hotel room and go to the Temple. Maddy asks, "The temple here?" Gramma said, "Yes." Then Maddy thought for a second and asked, "Have you paid your tithing?"

Where everybody knows your name... and they're always glad you came. (You all know it... the Cheers theme song.)

So I went to Golden Spoon the other day and I noticed Fawn's Suburban in the parking lot and walked in and she was there with her mom and kids. And so I said hi and then Steve (the owner) came out and I said hi, told him about selling my truck and he wanted to see my new ride. Jana (Fawn's mom) said, "This is like a bar... where everybody knows your name..." It made me laugh and made me thing it's nice to go somewhere where when you walk in you're like family! Thanks Steve and Golden Spoon employees for making me feel welcome and being nice people! I consider you all my friends. (I don't know if any of them ever read my blog, but if they come across it, I want them to feel loved and appreciated!)

Happy, Happy Birthday Maddy Lou!!!

OK, so I'm a couple days late (but at least it's still her birthday week!)... But I just wanted the whole world to know that my baby girl turned 7 on Sept 10th! She was my first girl and I was so excited to have her! While I was pregnant with her I could've sworn I was having twins... by the end I was measuring 5 weeks ahead of schedule (at 38 weeks measuring 43...). She was born at 3:49am and weighed in at a whopping 9lbs 6ozs and was 20 3/4 inches long! She was such a cuddly baby to hold! She has been such an active little girl. She has brought so much joy and excitement into our lives! When she was 1 1/2 she fell and split her head open and had to get stitches and a month to the day later she dropped a 25 lb weight (the round ones that go on a bar) on her toe and about chopped it off... so off for more stitches! She was CraZy!!! She is into so much and enjoys every aspect of her life. She loves to sing, dance, play, do art and just be ACTIVE!!! She has definately been a fun person to have in our family! I hope her ZEST for life never goes away!

My new baby...

YEA!!! I finally got my Suburban!!! The picture was taken in the dark, so it's not the BEST picture, but still... I love my new baby!!! Now I gotta drive it (gotta decide if it's a girl or boy...) and see what to name it! Just wanted to share!

Good-bye...

I'm saying good-bye to my truck. We had her (notice all my cars are girls...) for 5 years and are upgrading to a Suburban. We'll hopefully be purchasing the Suburban tonight or tomorrow. So right now the Melsers do not own their own vehicle (kinda funny!). But anyways, I'm really excited for this new purchase of ours. Our family is growing and needs more room. So when we get the new (to us) vehicle I will post pictures! I'm just really excited!!!

...She gave us Chocolate Cake!!!" Calling all Bill Cosby fans... you all are proably laughing at the title! Yes, my kids got chocolate cake for breakfast (because I am one FABULOUS mom!). Although I think they need to listen to the whole Bill Cosby thing on Chocolate Cake, because when asked what they had, they just say, "Cake"... Hello... "Mom is great... she gave us chocolate cake!!!" I wanted them to chant at me! Here are some fun pictures!

#!.... oops, you can't capitalized my age... heehee... look on your key board to determine my age!!! Haahaa!!! I've had a FABULOUS birthday week!

First off Sunday dinner at my mom's (I actually made my cake, it was homemade- from scratch- Devils Food cake... never have done that before, but YUM!!!)

On Monday we went to Billy & Karen's for swimming and playing games (with the Mortensen's). Karen made me Oriental Chicken Salad and Billy made me an Almond Poppyseed Cake (YUM!!!) Thanks guys!!! Although I didn't WIN Phase 10... hello, birthday girl should always win!!!

Tuesday night after school some of my girls in our Bunco group and some from the ward took me out to Applebee's for appetizers... Thanks for thinking of me girls!!!

Then on my "official" birthday (yesterday) I went with my sisters (Fawn included) to get pedicures (see picture below) and to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch. What a fun time that was! (Thanks Kirsi for babysitting!) And then I took a nap for about 2.5 hours (LOVELY!!!) and then my family gave me a few presents (big one I'll reveal after this weekend) and then they took me to Golden Spoon for dinner. I was still pretty full from lunch, so all I wanted was Fro Yo... YUM! Tart Mango in a waffle cone! My kids really enjoyed having icecream for dinner! Then to end the night was mutual, where we played Where's Waldo at Walmart (the youth went around Walmart looking for members in our ward who were wearing a red/white striped strip of material. My family was one set of Waldo's!)

Diamondbacks Game...

We went to the Diamondbacks game last Friday evening with one of Chuck's Dentists. We had a great time. I have never gotten a hotdog there before and that is what the Dr. wanted, so we got the foot-long ones! Talk about HUGE!!!

He's Growing up!!!

My little boy is not so little anymore. Chuck had him out the other day mowing the lawn! He need some help in spots, but for the most part he did it himself! CRAZY... I can't believe he's a 4th grader this year and almost a whole decade old! YIKES!!!

A Morning at the Zoo...

So I took Macee and Garrett to the zoo when I had them for Playday this past week. I wrote of it really quick in a previous post, but here are some fun pictures of our trip. Garrett hadn't been to the zoo in a long time, so he had no clue what a zoo was all about!

My past week...

So new life for me... my routine is so different now! I started back to school last Tuesday night and last week was one CRAZY week for me. I had to learn how I was going to juggle my time working on HOMEwork, HOUSEwork, and be a good mom/wife and still take a few moments for myself (so I won't fall into a depression and not be able to function at all!!!) So I think I have it down (slightly). Like today I got up (after 5 1/2 hrs of sleep) and got the kids ready and off to school, then I came home and switched laundry (got it started before taking kids to school), and got working on homework(Math) (thanks Dora & Diego for keeping Macee entertained!!!), switched laundry, worked on more homework, switched laundry (you get the idea), went and voted (yeah, no shower yet... went in my comfy shorts, t-shirt and bandanna on my head... of course we run into people from the ward, go figure!), came home, got Macee lunch and settled for a nap (in front of Dora), she fell asleep, I showered and got ready, then the house was quiet, so I got in some more studying (BIO) and now here I am with a few minutes before kids get home and I start piano lessons (from 3-430), then head off for my long night at school (5-10pm). I am looking forward to after school though, because Fawn, Tisha and Karen are taking me out for my b-day (sorry the only time I can go is 10pm, but that's my new life!!! You girls are GREAT!!!). So by the time I get home I will be ready to crash and get up tomorrow and get ready for a fun-filled day of pedicures and lunch... BTW, I love to celebrate my b-day for like a whole week... can you tell? Life on Tuesday's may always be CRAZY, but I'm glad I'm going back to school and getting my degree! It will be worth it in the end! Oh- a few picture highlights from the week...

And I took Macee and Garrett to the Zoo on Wednesday for Playday. It was lots of fun. Garrett hasn't been since he was so little that he didn't even know what he would see. When I asked the kids on the way to the Zoo what animal they wanted to see, he said, "A kitty". Funny kid! He loved it and Macee enjoyed spending the morning with Garrett.

Well... now the kids are home and I got to get going on everything else that I have going on! I'll post more later!
