Because I don't like it...

So I just had Sears call me about buying a protection plan for the weed-eater we bought last year to extend coverage on it.
I told her we weren't interested.
She asked the reason...
My reason I told her was I don't like my weed-eater and when it dies I can get a new one.
She just laughed and laughed...
Anyways, I don't usually talk to people who are trying to get me to buy things, I usually hang up before I get too far into a conversation, but I'm glad that I did, because she probably needed a good laugh!

My Mini-Me...

So Karyn... I'm finally posting those pics for you that you requested. As I was looking through my Grandma Nichols picture books I found pictures of me from when I was almost 3 years old. Macee was sitting by me and she insisted it wasn't me, but that it was her. After a little argument she declared that it was Reagan (her cousin)... but there was no way that it could be her mom. Well... now she will finally say that the pics are me and she puts her face next to mine and says, "We match!"

Camping Fun!!!

So we had the Melser Family Reunion this weekend. We camped about 30 out of Payson off Control Rd. Our campsite was very nice. Open, big and it was right next to the creek. The kids sure had a great time playing in it. We got up there on Friday morning and when we got there, Chuck and Tyler took off to golf with the boys. I stayed behind with the girls and set up the tent. Then when the boys got back we got the dining fly set up and got things organized. We played lots of card games and just hung out. On Saturday we went into Payson for the Hancock Reunion. We visited for awhile, then went swimming there at the pool, ate lunch and then headed back to the campsite! The Mortensen's joined us in Payson and went on to the campsite to camp with us for the weekend. After dinner we went back into Payson to play a few games at the reunion and then came back to the campsite and put our kids to bed and stayed up to play games. On Sunday we packed up our stuff and had a family devotional and then mostly everybody left. Travis and Katie stayed behind to play games with us and the Mortensens and then they left in the afternoon. We stayed until about 7pm. It was a nice weekend. I love to camp and this was just perfect!

Macee and Lucy were either fighting or laughing with each other!

Sad, sad Macee... I think she's tired!

Haylie! She was dirty the minute she was put down!

KaraLyn, Carla & Kaite

Lucy was so dirty!!!

I love her in a bandana. Too bad it didn't last long at all!
This frog was funny! It was just a rubber one, but Macee was freaked out about it! She wouldn't go anywhere near it! She finally got to where she would touch it with one finger and run away, but be so proud that she did it. I made her hold it in her hand and she was freaking out the whole time! Finally I think she realized it was not real and she loved it! She was so funny with that frog!
I have tons more pics, but these were my favorites. They are pretty much of the little girls, but they were the ones who hung out with us. The other kids were too busy playing!

Creek Play...

Everyone packed up on Sunday morning and started to head home. After everyone but us and the Mortensen's had left we took the kids down and played in the creek with them. It was really fun. The creek ran right behind our campsite, so most of the time the older kids were playing down there!

He's so HOT! Thanks for a fun weekend Chuck!

Macee & Tyler. Tyler learned how to skip rocks this weekend. He was doing very good at it! Way to go!

Cheesy grins!!! KaraLyn & Macee
Damon is funny. He was told to not get wet... heehee... he totally fell in! Oh- well, it's just water and he'll dry!

More Creek Play...

More fun creek pics!

Maddy spent most of the weekend in the creek! Poor girl got a little red on her shoulders!

Devon almost fell in! Heehee!

Gunnar showing me a stick and sticking his tongue out at me! Thanks Devon for teaching him to stick his tongue out at me!

My best friend Fawny! You are so beautiful!

Jonny- cute boy! He even lost a tooth while camping!

Maddy's Catch...

So we went camping and Maddy came up to me and said quietly that she was going to catch a big fish for her dad for Father's Day. So off she went to fish. I didn't see her for awhile, so I went to investigate. I found her in some tall grass, just sitting patiently, trying to catch a fish for her daddy.

I quietly came up behind her and took a picture and then she caught me, so I had a little conversation with her... it went like this...

Mom: What are you doing?

Maddy: Catching a fish for dad. Look at my fishing pole. It has a stick and some string and this.

Mom: (looking closely at "this") Oh- that's a piece of glass Maddy. I don't think you'll catch a fish with that.

Maddy: Mom... fish like shiny things.

Well... she put me in my spot. She didn't end up catching anything, but it sure did keep her occupied for quite awhile!

Catching up on life...

OK, so I'm blogging lots today. I feel like I haven't kept up with all that is going on.

-Maddy & Tyler are taking a summer school class through the "All Kids Are Gifted" program with Mesa Public Schools. They are both really enjoying it. They get to ride a bus there, eat breakfast and lunch there and their favorite part... NO HOMEWORK!!! The theme this summer is "Road Trip". It's fun seeing the projects they are working on.

-Macee gets to spend time with me all day... lucky her. We try and go to the YMCA 3 days a week and after I work out and she goes to the Kiddie Club (her class as she calls it) I try and take her swimming. She is very brave in the water... it's kinda scary because she thinks she can swim, but she really doesn't know how to! At least she's not kicking and screaming and not wanting to go swimming, because when you live in AZ, pools are a necessity!

-Chuck just celebrated 10 years at SmartHealth. He really enjoys his position and really enjoys telecommuting. With gas prices going up up up, it sure saves on gas money! I'm proud of Chuck for all the hard work he has put into working for SmartHealth and for how much he has grown and learned while he has been there!

-Chuck and I were called as A-Camp leaders for girls! (For those who are wondering what A-Camp is, it's 4th year at church girls camp and we go "rough" it for a couple nights then go back to main camp to finish up!) So we have been planning and preparing for that these past couple months. We go to camp in July. I will let you all know how it went when it's all done!

-We spent Memorial Day Weekend down in Thatcher with Chuck's parents. It was a nice weekend. A few highlights...

The kids played outside in the water

Maddy put on a "Play" for us. We made up a song and Chuck was her prop holder. It was cute!

Macee didn't go to bed until about midnight on Friday and was up again around 4-5am (I can't remember exactly) and she finally crashed Saturday afternoon.

My kids are definately Melser's when it comes to falling asleep... Maddy was a bit tired, you think?

Me & Carla... sorry, I was lazy and didn't put on make-up when I didn't have to!

So I don't have pictures of Tyler... he really did go with us, he just is going through a phase where he doesn't like his picture taken... oh-well... he really did go with us!

When we got home from Thatcher we went to a Swim Party/BBQ with the Mortensens and had a wonderful time there!

-We just got done with the kids Little League games. Maddy played tee-ball and Tyler played machine pitch. I think they enjoyed themselves. I sure enjoyed keeping score at Tyler's games. It helped me actually watch the game!
Maddy's Team... The Riverdogs
Tyler's Team... Storm

-I'm ready to go back to Disneyland again... I have to wait a few months, but if you know me, I'm always ready and willing to leave town and play!

-Hopefully I will keep up with all that is going on in our lives better than I have been. We have just been busy, busy, busy... so you get it all at once. And this was just the highlights!

Have a fabulous day!

Yu-Gi-Oh

My sweet Tyler is totally into Yu-Gi-Oh right now. We just figured out he has 398 cards!!! WOW! He saves his money he gets and buys cards, he earns them for different things as well (such as practicing the piano, playing with his sisters and trying hard to do good.) I thought I would post some pictures of him playing with and looking at his cards. He is always eager to have people look at them... he will sit and tell everybody about them as long as they will listen! I love how passionate he is over certain things in his life.
With his cards spread out in the Living Room
Looking at this cards in his book he created to hold all the cards.

Look at this kid...

I was just looking at pics from my Grandma Nichols picture books and I came across this pic of my brother Billy. I just laugh at how he was dressed way back when... (I know mom, that's how everybody dressed)... look at those shoes & socks!!! Just makes me giggle! Sorry to laugh Billy, but... well, you are probably laughing too!!! BTW... Billy, no denying Reagan is yours... you two look totally alike.

College...

So... I went and talked with an advisor at MCC yesterday and found out what I need to do to become a Nurse. I took a bunch of classes before I got married and I didn't know if they would count or not, but I found out they all do. The only thing I HAVE to take is Microbiology over (I got a "D" in it... it was the semester I got married...), but they suggested to take all my Biology's over again, just as a refresher. Then they told me it is about a 3 semester wait for getting into the Nursing Program. This couldn't turn out any better. I have 4 Bio classes to take and 4 semesters before Macee is in Kindergarten. I'm going to take a class this fall semester and take my NET (Nursing Entrance Test) and get all my paperwork completed to apply for Nursing school by the end of the fall semester. That will give me about 3 semesters to finish my Bio's and then I can work towards my degree. At that time my little Macee will be in school full-time and I can not feel guilty for taking time for me. I think that Heavenly Father knows that this was the perfect time for me to start back, seeing as it is all falling smoothly into place. I'm excited and scared for this opportunity, but I know it is a step that I need to take. Just thought I would share my news!

I don't like mustard...

OK... so tonight after FHE I went with Fawn & Devon Mortensen to his parent's house to go swimming. After we were done we went inside for a few minutes and his dad comes in with a bottle of mustard. He told Devon to squirt me with the mustard... I told him I don't like mustard... then he proceeds to open the bottle and squirt!!! I flinched and closed my eyes and was kinda mad... but when I looked down it wasn't really mustard... it was just water! Heehee... the jokes on me! So anyways, this post is for Devon because he commented I haven't posted in like 3 weeks... so Devon here's a post for you and thanks for the laugh!
